Jimmy Carter UFO Sighting (1969)

On January 6, 1969, future US President Jimmy Carter and approximately 10-12 members of the Leary, Georgia Lions Club witnessed a bright aerial object that changed colors from white to blue to red and appeared to move toward and away from the observers over several minutes. Carter was so affected that he filed an official UFO sighting report with the International UFO Bureau in 1973. During his 1976 presidential campaign, he publicly promised to release all government UFO files if elected. After taking office in 1977, he requested the information from the CIA — and was denied by Director George H.W. Bush. Carter later acknowledged he never received the files. The implication is staggering: the President of the United States, who had personally witnessed a UAP, could not access his own government's information about the phenomenon. This is perhaps the clearest evidence that UFO secrecy operates above the level of the presidency — a classification system that even the commander-in-chief cannot penetrate.
